Carl Froch’s football ambition, glamour model wife & flat-earth views

Carl Froch is one of the most recognisable British boxers of the 21st century and now regularly serves as a pundit on major bouts after retiring in 2015. The 45-year-old from Nottingham won 33 out of 35 matches (24 by knockout) during his career and held multiple super-middleweight belts. However, he is perhaps most famous for his Wembley win over George Groves in 2013. Here Express Sport takes a look at some of the most interesting aspects of his life.

Footballing ambitions

Froch initially did not want to be a boxer when he was growing up instead hoping to represent local club, Nottingham Forest. While his focus later turned to boxing he remained an avid supporter of the Tricky Trees throughout his career turning up to his first bout in Nottingham Arena in one of the club’s shirts while he carried the badge on his shorts at all times.

He regularly posed with his winning belts at the City Ground and hoped to fight his rematch against Andre Ward at his beloved stadium but the bout never became a reality.

Glamour model wife Rachael

Froch initially started dating his wife Rachael in 2009 and married her 10 years later in Italy. He initially proposed to her in the ring immediately after his second win over Groves in 2015. They have three children together.

He rated his wedding above any of his bouts as the biggest event of his life. “I’ve won world titles, and I’ve been to Buckingham Palace to collect my MBE, but our wedding was the most massive occasion,” he told Hello magazine. “It was one of the best days of my life.”

Flat-earther

Froch has not been afraid to share some unusual views including his bizarre belief that the earth is flat.

“I need categoric evidence. I am sitting on the fence,” he explained to Nottingham Live. “I put it out there to challenge people to prove me wrong. I want proof we live on a spinning ball with water.”

“There’s no proof of the Earth’s curvature and this fake space agency Nasa use CGI images and every one is different,” he added on the Pound for Pound Podcast. “I’m looking at them thinking, ‘Hang on a minute, they’re like cartoons’.”

£16million net worth

Froch is has a net worth of just over £16m according to Celebritynetworth.com after accumulating immense riches throughout his career. The biggest purse he claimed during his career was £8m for beating Groves in 2014 in one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.

He has topped up his earnings with punditry work after retirement with Sky Sports among the companies he has worked for.
