For the first time in franchise history, the Denver Nuggets won an NBA title.
Denver went on an 8-2 run in the final two minutes and 45 seconds of action to defeat the Miami Heat by a final score of 94-89. The Nuggets ran through Jimmy Butler and company in just five games thanks to an MVP performance from Nikola Jokic.
Following the win, former Nuggets legend Carmelo Anthony reacted to the team’s win with just three words.
“CHAMPS! Congrats Nuggets,” he said in a message on Twitter.

After the game, Jokic reacted to the team’s title and the process it took to reach the top of the mountain.
“If you want to be a success, you need a couple years,” Jokic said. “You need to be bad, then you need to be good, then when you’re good you need to fail, and then when you fail, you’re going to figure it out.
“There is a process — there are steps that you need to fill — and there are no shortcuts. It’s a journey, and I’m glad that I’m part of the journey.”
The Nuggets made history in the organization and Melo was right there watching.
