BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has given a sweet insight into her relationship with Steve Randall after getting engaged in May of last year.
The 61-year-old weather presenter, who was previously married to cricket player Jimmy Kirkwood between 1990 and 2008, spoke about finding her “perfect” beau in a new interview.
The BBC favourite described how she was feeling “happy and healthy” following her engagement to the 48-year-old former police officer.
Speaking to Closer magazine, she revealed she wasn’t expecting to get into a relationship at the time she and Steve got together.
She explained: “We were friends before we became romantically involved so we knew each other quite well before we started dating.
“That was nice because it just kind of happened,” Carol reminisced happily.
“Neither of us were looking for romance and there it was, it just evolves. It’s so lovely.
“Who’d have thought that at this ripe old age, I’d be getting married again? I certainly didn’t.”
Carol also gushed about having “so much to look forward to in the next 20 years”.
“My fiancé is very handsome,” she said. “He’s very kind and caring and he makes me laugh.
“Steve’s a good cook too. He’s all I could ever want. In my eyes he’s perfect,” she added.
Carol and Steve started dating back in 2021 and got engaged in the springtime of last year.
The loved-up star told her fellow presenters Sally Nugent and Jon Kay all about the engagement on BBC Breakfast.
She announced at the time: “We got engaged when we were on holiday, so it’s lovely news and we’re both thrilled. Thank you!”
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
