The Italian Paralympic Athletics Grand Prix will start this Friday in Jesolo, a town in the province of Venice, above the Adriatic Sea.
Three athletes from the Castilla y León Adapted Sports Federation (Fedeacyl) will participate in the international event, which denotes the good work of recent seasons in different parts of the community.
In this way, Adrián Parras from Valladolid (Campo Grande Athletics) will participate with the national team of the Spanish Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities (FEDDI), together with Selena García (Civitas) from the Canary Islands in the Italian competition.
Also at the Armando Picchi International Stadium will be Ander Olaso from Avila, together with his guide, César Palacio ‘Chapi’, who will compete in the sub 18 category, in the speed tests; like Diego Ruiz from Salamanca and also belonging to ONCE.
The two sprinters make their international debut with the Spanish team after their great results in the Liberty Promises Spanish Championship, last month in Toledo, in which Ruiz was chosen as the best athlete in the competition and led the 21 medals achieved by Castilla and Lion.
The ‘veteran’ of the team, Adrián Parras from Valladolid, will debut this Friday the 12th, at 9:15 am, in the 1,500 meters, a test in which he is the current champion of Spain, after his victory in the Nacional de Jerez de la Frontera on April.
This will be “his test”, as Abdil, his coach, analyzes, who recalls that this is the modality in which he has done the minimum to be able to be in Jesolo with the best specialists in the world; and that it can open the doors of the Paralympic Games next year.
In addition to the 1,500, the athlete from Simancas will participate in the 400 and 800 meters.
In the list of winners of the international middle-distance runner, the gold achieved by teams in the Cross World Championship in California last year stands out.
