The promising team from Castilla y León won the bronze medal last weekend in the AXA Spanish Adapted Swimming Championship.

The Castilla y León Adapted Sports Federation team stood out at the Valdemoro pool, and was only surpassed by the Catalan and Valencian teams, with whom the podium in the lower categories has been shared for five years now.

The Castilian and Leonese team, faithful to its identity of giving young athletes the opportunity in the national promotion event, made their debut for five swimmers: Ángela Esteban, Ricardo Rojo, Juanjo Herrero, Alejandra Bonal and Gabriel Soto.

“They have done very well for the group and it has been a great experience for them, as well as for their teammates”, defends the leader of the Fedeacyl expedition, Javier Alonso.

The five ‘kids’ of the team competed alongside Diego Romero, Irene Barro, Sergio Díaz, Yasser del Bosque, Carla de Vega, Marco Pérez and Samuel Pérez. Precisely, the latter, a swimmer from the Mundo Azul, stood out in the Madrid event, since he achieved second place in the calculation of all the tests that he swam in the juvenile category.

It is also worth noting the role of Ángela Esteban, despite being her first official competition; or that of Yasser del Bosque, who continues to progress in the water.

In addition, the regional team once again demonstrated that it stands out in the colorful 4×50 medley mixed relay events, in which it was second, with the team made up of Yasser and Ángela themselves, who were joined by Marco Pérez –another of the highlights- and Sergio Díaz.

As is traditional, three sports classes were established according to the type of disability – functional (S1-10/SB1-9/SM1-10), visual (S11-13/SB11-13/SM11-13) and intellectual (S14/SB14). /SM14)–.

Nearly fifty tests were held in which the athletes were measured over distances ranging from 50 to 400 meters and in the modalities of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and styles, as well as mixed relays.

The Fedeacyl team was made up of swimmers from Valladolid, Palencia and Soria; that belong to the Fusion, Mundo Azul and Impulso Global clubs.
