A CAT that survived four WEEKS stranded in a shelled block of flats in Ukraine has finally been rescued by big-hearted animal lovers.

The feline – which miraculously survived a rocket strike from Vladimir Putin’s butchers – was saved from the seventh floor in a suburb of Kyiv after a mammoth social media campaign.

Astonishing pictures show how a hero rescue team in war ravaged Borodyanka scrambled to save the fearless creature from the terrifying height, MailOnline reported.

A team led by local hero Eugene Kibets – who had responded to desperate calls online to save the cat – used a fire engine with a crane to reach the stranded animal high up in the charred building.

A brave emergency services worker then climbed the vertigo educing crane to grab the cat, which can be seen peaking over the edge of a blown out apartment.

The kitty – which is likely to have used up at least one of its nine lives throughout the saga – is now being treated at a local animal clinic, where she was started eating again.

Prior to the rescue, Mr Kibets knew the scale of the challenge ahead, writing: “The cat is on the 7th floor of a non-existent house.”

But when he and his team finally accomplished the daring effort, he posed with the cat in his arms and simply wrote: “I’m so happy!!!!!!!”

Cat fan Lorenzo the Cat wrote on Twitter: “Holy S*** he did it! Eugene Kibets got the cat from the 7th floor of a bombed building.

“I know this is crazy, but amid the horror of war we have to celebrate the good in humanity.”

While Twitter user @beanerz72 chimed: “Omg Ukraine, thank you for saving kitty! Crying because I’m glad he’s safe!”

And tweeter Kaarina added: “Oh dear, the cat looks absolutely exhausted, but a fierce look in his eyes. So happy for this rescue.”

While Devonia noted: “Something that Putin can never destroy. The hearts & souls of Ukrainians.”

The rescue also caught the eye of Ukraine’s top brass.

Presidential adviser Anton Gerashchenko wrote: “Local rescue services saw a repost about this cat. They saved the and here it is in the hands of Eugene Kibets who originally posted about him on FB.”
