The QR code will reveal a red, orange or green light once scanned, depending on whether the priest had been stripped of any clerical status.
The plan, announced on Wednesday, will identify which priests are able to lead mass and hear confessions.
Red lights are for priests who have been stripped of their status and cannot perform clerical duties. Orange lights will show a priest has limited powers because of experience or sanctions. Green lights show a priest can perform a full range of sacraments.
The database will be updated once a year.
