Nick Gilbert, the son of the Cleveland Cavaliers owner, died at the age of 26 this weekend.
The son of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert is best known for his time at the NBA Draft Lottery. He represented the team four different times, landing the No. 1 overall pick twice.
Gilbert died at 26 after dealing with a genetic disorder.
“Nick Gilbert, the son of Rocket Companies founder and chairman Dan Gilbert and Jennifer Gilbert, died Saturday from a genetic condition, according to a funeral announcement from the Ira Kaufman Chapel. Nick Gilbert was 26,” the Detroit News reported.
“Nick Gilbert lived with neurofibromatosis, a condition that causes non-cancerous tumors to grow along nerves in the skin, brain, and other parts of the body.”
Nick Gilbert died peacefully while surrounded by family, according to the release.
