Research from daysoftheyear.com shows this special day was first created in 1987 by Matt Nader of the San Francisco-based Blue Chip Cookie Co. and later championed by the Cookie Monster of Sesame Street fame.

This is a good time to haul out your coveted recipes and get ready for holiday baking. You can also purchase a cookie for a really good cause – in support of Ronald McDonald Houses. In fact, according to rmhccanada.ca , “baking cookies is a tradition at Ronald McDonald Houses and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms across Canada, because baking cookies helps families feel a little more at home, when they can’t be together at home.” Every year the famous charitable organization helps give over 26,000 families a feeling of home, keeping them close to their sick child being treated at a nearby children’s hospital. The organization has been doing this for 40 years.

You can purchase any cookie from your local McDonald’s. Or you can order the cookies through DoorDash up to Dec. 6. Spread the cheer and order for others as an early holiday gift! As well, for every purchase, DoorCash will donate $1 to the charity, up to $15,000. Two flavours to choose from – chocolate chunk and brownie.
