It’s never too early to look to the seasons ahead. And with Fashion Week currently forecasting the autumn/winter trends we’ll be loving, celestial makeup has emerged as a huge “One To Watch”.
Think golden star-lit shades scattered across eyes and cheekbones, heavenly healthy skin and some supernatural sparkle. We love that heading into the darker months at the tail end of the year, we already have a gorgeous glow-up to look forward to that can light the way.
So far the look has stolen the show at Harris Reed in London, and Thom Brown and Altuzarra in New York (and you know what they say, threes a trend).
But, while the catwalk is here for those OTT moments (with Thom Browne featuring actual shimmer stars painted across the model’s cheeks), we can always take inspo and tone it down when it comes to applying it to our own makeup look. We’re anticipating wet-look golden and bronze metallics smudged across eyelids and celestially sheeny skin. But, if you want to go all out with a starscape complexion, we’re here for that, too.
Here’s how the celestial makeup look played out on the runways…

At Harris Reed, the theme “All The World’s A Stage” played on the idea of performance, theatre and star-quality. Sofia Tilbury took care of creating a supernatural makeup look, draping the models’ eyes in molten metallic shades. “Bold and amplified use of colour alongside pearlescent, metallic tones were key components in reflecting the extravagant aesthetic Harris was looking for,” Sofia revealed. “From the gorgeous silver and gold washes of colour on the eyes using the Beauty Light Wand in Goldgasm and Hollywood Glow Glide Highlighters; to the pops of red and purple on the lips, and the generous use of highlighter on the cheeks, these eye-catching elements really embody the theatrical decadence of each look,” she explained.
