Celtic celebration fit for history books but manager commitment missing

0

Securing trebles has become a habit in Glasgow’s East End in recent times – but even so, Celtic’s world record eighth domestic treble was celebrating accordingly.

Even though the performance of Ange Postecoglou’s men in the Scottish Cup Final was a bit of an anticlimax, the club and supporters certainly made up for it with the post-treble party back at Celtic Park.

Thousands flocked to Parkhead to welcome their treble winners back.

Our media access allowed us to be at the front of the stage to film the teams arrival and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were at a rock concert.

The sun shining, supporters young and old soaking up the occasion and when the Celtic players and their sought-after manager arrived with the three trophies which created history, the place erupted.

The look on the Celtic players faces said it all – this is not the norm in football and those on stage new it.

None more so for the man who led them to this treble.

It was hard not to constantly look at Postecoglou on the stage outside Celtic Park – as he gazed at the thousands in attendance.

In his post match media conference, despite not saying a lot about his future, what he did say spoke volumes.

There was no, ‘we never stop’, ‘we’ll come back stronger next year’ – instead, worryingly for Celtic fans, it was a case of let’s enjoy today.

Then at Parkhead – he looked a man who knew he had to embrace every second – because that may be the last time he gets to wear the Celtic colours and appear in front of the fans who have taken him to their hearts.

Whatever happens it’s safe to say Celtic celebrated their treble good and proper.

Fans will have unforgettable memories.

Colour, noise, passion – the post-match party had at all.

All that was missing was Postecoglou’s commitment to true club next season.
