Celtic are opening up their stadium for the first Paradise Pit Stop to help those in need during the cost of living crisis with the offer of free food and drinks.

The initiative has been launched by the club’s official charity to help ease the burden of rising household bills and will offer a warm meal and a soft drink to anyone who attends between 5pm and 7pm every Monday and Thursday from January 30 onwards.

Children will also be catered for with games available and a quiet spot in the lounge for anyone looking to do any reading or homework.

Employees of the club and the Celtic Foundation will be on hand to assist guests in the hope it can ease the burden for some of the locals struggling to make ends meet.

There are no restrictions on who can attend with anyone welcome to come along and enter via the north stand entrance no matter if they are in employment or in receipt of any social security benefits.

Celtic FC Foundation’s Chief Executive, Tony Hamilton, said: “We recognise that many people are going through challenging times just now and that even being in employment doesn’t necessarily negate this.

“For many it’s a struggle to pay the household bills with anything left over, so we really hope that people in and out of work who could benefit from coming along take the opportunity to do so.”

Celtic FC’s Chief Executive, Michael Nicholson, added: “The club is delighted to support our Foundation’s activities in this area, as we continue to try to find ways to support people in need, in line with the ethos and founding principles of the club.

“We hope that this project will make a positive difference in our community.”
