DORCHESTER — A chain of car crashes on I-93 killed one person, injured two significantly, and led to one drunk driving arrest. The crashes happened between Exit 12 and 13 in Dorchester.

State Police said three cars were involved but the specific details and sequence of crashes are still unclear.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Christian Yemga, 34, of Quincy, was hit by a car after he got out of his Hyundai Sonata. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Volkswagen Atlas and Acura RSX were somehow also involved. State Police believe Yemga was struck by the Acura, which was driven by a 35-year-old man and carrying one passenger.

The Volkswagen was allegedly driven by 33-year-old Nikita Wilkins. There were two other people in the car at the time. Wilkins was arrested and charged with OUI-alcohol, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer.

Both people in the Acura were seriously injured and transported to Boston Medical Center. No one in the Volkswagen needed medical attention.

Investigators are working to determine whether charges will be filed in the death of Yemga.

All southbound lanes were closed for several hours early Saturday morning.

No further information is being released at this time.
