Changes To Delta SkyMiles For Business Coming In October 2023

Small and medium-sized businesses that fly on Delta Air Lines can join the SkyMiles for Business loyalty program for free. This platform is free to join and will launch in October 2023. Business members can earn SkyMiles and have an easier time booking business flights.

What Is Delta SkyMiles For Business

SkyMiles for Business is a new loyalty program that’s free to join and intended specifically for small and medium businesses. It’s replacing the existing SkyBonus program, which has several overlapping benefits but doesn’t offer as much flexibility.

There are no minimum traveler or spend requirements to join or maintain membership. Delta states it’s the first airline to waive these requirements. However, enterprises with bigger travel budgets can enjoy personalized offers and additional benefits.

SkyMiles For Business Loyalty Tiers

There will be three loyalty tiers for business enterprises:

Member: Open to all small and medium-sized organizations without traveler or spending minimums.
Plus: Businesses start earning miles with at least five employee travelers and $5,000 annual travel spend.
Elite: This top tier is for accounts with at least five employee travelers and $300,000 annual travel spend.

Existing SkyBonus Plus and Elite accounts will retain their loyalty tiers and enjoy the new program’s benefits.

Earn SkyMiles On Business Travel

You will earn SkyMiles instead of SkyPoints, which makes it easier to calculate award travel redemptions. Plus and Elite-level businesses will have their existing SkyBonus balance converted into SkyMiles. Further, travel itineraries will start earning SkyMiles on flights operated by these airlines:

Delta
Air France
KLM
Aeromexico
Virgin Atlantic

Miles can be earned on travel bookings to more than 1,000 destinations. The program is also launching a new earn chart that can help businesses earn more miles when purchasing premium on-board experiences like Delta One and Delta Premium Select.

As a reminder, Delta SkyMiles don’t expire and can be redeemed for flights and travel packages for maximum value.

Individuals Can Earn SkyMiles Too

In addition to the business account earning airline miles, the individual traveler can deposit SkyMiles into their personal account on qualifying itineraries. A new feature arriving soon is the ability for businesses to transfer miles to individual employee accounts to enable redemptions on award travel, seat upgrades, cover baggage fees and other incidental expenses.
