Katie Price stars in teaser for Channel 4 ‘Mucky Mansion’ show

Channel 4 have confirmed they will continue to air Katie Price’s upcoming TV shows even in the event she is jailed.

The 43-year-old troubled former topless model caused headlines over the weekend as it was revealed she was arrested on suspicion of breaching a restraining order on Friday night.

The star – who is currently under a suspended sentence after admitting she was drink-driving while disqualified and without insurance last September – has a number of TV projects about to imminently air.

Katie has teamed up with Channel 4 for two shows about her life – while she is also due to make an appearance on BBC Three’s upcoming RaPaul’s Drag Race: UK Vs The World reality series.

Channel 4 have already provoked outrage over their TV show plans involving Katie – which were confirmed just weeks after she was sentenced for her guilty drink-drive plea, with TV fans arguing she was being “rewarded” after her crimes.

Asked if they were planning to reconsider or cancel airing Katie’s upcoming TV projects in the event of her being jailed following her arrest, Channel 4 confirmed the plan was very much to allow the shows to air regardless.

A Channel 4 spokesperson told the Mirror: “The series was filmed last year and follows Katie’s renovations of her family’s home.”

Katie is due to be seen renovating her home in her Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion series from Wednesday night.

While she is also due to feature in a Channel 4 documentary about her mental health battles following the completion of her Mucky Mansion series.

TV Fans expressed their anger about her show plans earlier this month as trailers for her home renovation show began to air.

One fan took aim at the network, writing online: “CH4 should be ashamed.”

While another wrote: “can’t believe it’s being aired after her catalogue of misdemeanours!”

Channel 4’s insistence that the shows must go one could anger TV viewers further in the event of Katie being jailed following her weekend arrest.

Clemency Green, senior commissioning editor for Channel 4, had previously explained her rational for rewarding a convicted criminal with two TV shows.

She said: “I’m thrilled to have commissioned Captive Minds Media’s first projects for Channel 4.

“In Katie Price’s Mucky Mansion, we see a different side to Katie and learn more about her battle with mental health, as well as seeing her close bond with her family. It’s compelling viewing.”

The BBC and RuPaul’s Drag Race could also come under fire from TV fans as Katie is set to feature on a new series starting next week

Meanwhile, the BBC could also find themselves under fire for similar reasons as it was confirmed Katie will appear on RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs The World.

The shamed star is set to appear in an episode where drag performers from the UK and around the world will imitate celebrities – with Katie herself acting as a judge after being lampooned on the show in a similar segment last year.

The new series is set to begin airing on BBC Three from February 1st.
