Charles Barkley was no stranger to controversy during his NBA career, but in his retirement, he’s attempted to offer guidance to younger players who may be dealing with issues of their own.
As an analyst for TNT, Barkley is often asked to give his opinion on the stars of today. He didn’t hold back when it came to the ongoing issues with Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant, a player he has criticized in the past for his behavior.
In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Barkley offered a more sympathetic view on Morant, saying that he was “crying out for help” with his actions.
"Ja Morant is crying out for help and I'm really hoping the best for him..
I try and tell all these young guys in the league to surround themselves with the right people"

“When I saw that the other day, he was saying goodbye to his dad, his mom, his sister and they had to send to police to do a wellness check, I almost started crying,” Barkley said, referring to Morant’s alarming posts on social media this week.
“This kid is crying out for help, man. I want to know where the adults in the rooms are,” he said.
Barkley said that he expected Morant to eventually receive a 20 to 25 game suspension for the video where he appeared to be waving a gun around, but said that ultimately he would like to see someone step in to offer Morant help.
“I really am hoping the best for the kid,” Barkley added. “Let’s get you some help, whatever it takes.”
