Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were close friends during their playing days, and for several years after they retired, but that is no longer the case.
Jordan ended his friendship with Barkley, when the NBA on TNT analyst criticized the then-Charlotte Hornets owner for his questionable moves.
“It’s a really unfortunate situation for me and him,” Barkley told Taylor Rooks. “But I’m going to do my job first and foremost. I can’t criticize other coaches and general managers and give him a pass because he’s my best friend. I just can’t do that. What I said was, ‘Michael’s got to surround himself with better people. And I worry about him being successful.’ When you’re a star – he’s the biggest star I’ve ever been around – everybody around you will tell you what you want to hear. I didn’t think he had a good enough supporting cast around him in the front office to be successful.”
Sunday night, Barkley appeared on 60 Minutes. He doubled down on his relationship with Jordan.
Barkley had a four-word message for the legendary NBA star.
“He’s got my number.”
Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley were best friends until Barkley criticized Jordan’s management of his NBA team. The friendship ended, and they haven’t spoken in years.
“He’s got my number,” said Barkley, who refuses to be the first to apologize. https://t.co/P0c8FDM0qh pic.twitter.com/PEiijrVATm

It’s depressing that two friends like Barkley and Jordan could lose touch because of something said about basketball.
Life is bigger than that and, hopefully, there will be a reconciliation at some point.
However, knowing Barkley and Jordan, it doesn’t sound like either person is willing to make the first move and apologize.
