It wasn’t too long ago when Thousand Oaks senior Chase Martin was griping about his college recruitment — and for good reason. Despite helping to turn a program around, recording hundreds of tackles and even getting faster last spring by running track, the scholarship offers weren’t exactly ‘flooding in’.
Martin stayed patient and kept working. It turned into a season to remember, anchoring the Lancers to a 10-0 regular season and a Canyon League title by way 1,017 yards rushing with 17 touchdowns and 131 tackles on defense. It eventually earned him a scholarship offer to Boise State, where Martin signed surrounded by his family at home Wednesday morning.
“It felt great definitely,” Martin said. “A definite weight off my shoulders. Now I can focus on Boise State and not have to worry about the recruitment and just focus on football.”

Granada Hills Charter standout running back Dijon Stanley signed to Utah. The senior led the Highlanders to a LA City Section Division I title, SoCal Regional crown and the program’s first-ever CIF State final by totaling 2,756 yards and 33 touchdowns in 14 games.
“It felt great to officially become a Ute,” Stanley said. “It has always been a dream of mine to play college sports.”
Stanley, the City Section’s defending 200-meter and 400 champion in track, will be a front runner in those events for a CIF State title in the spring.
