Every year, players within the automotive industry head to Las Vegas to gather together and show off all the meaningful upgrades, accessories, innovations, and inventions they’ve been working on. Basically, the Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, or SEMA, is like a car show, but for car stuff and services.

The accessory business is growing at Ford. According to the brand, accessories’ sales are up 40 per cent from two years ago, with a third of them being made after purchase either online or at the dealer. Makes sense, then, that the brand would take the opportunity at the Las Vegas Convention Center to demonstrate the customizability of 10 of its most popular nameplates, joining forces with a number of aftermarket builders to create some unique rides. Here’s what they brought to the show.

It’s got cargo boxes, roof bars, an awning, and a bike rack from Thule with two e-bikes attached, plus a bunch of add-ons from Ford. There’s a portable air compressor kit, dash cam, refrigerator, and Recaro custom seats inside, and a power tonneau cover, roof rack basket, solar charging, red tow hooks, added exterior lighting on the roof and under body, and an Army Green paint finish outside.

Yakima and Hypertech built this Badlands Bronco for those who want to go off-road and stay there. The ‘Ultimate Base Camp vehicle’ includes an off-road recovery kit, a jump starter, a portable air compressor, a fridge/freezer, Borla exhaust with black chrome tips, a bunch of added external lights to illuminate tricky terrain, and Bronco Sport Heritage emblems over the custom vinyl wrap to provide a quick nod to the nameplate’s off-roading origins.

Bronco ‘Service Unit Vehicle’

This Bronco “Service Unit Vehicle” (or S.U.V.) by ARB 4X4 Accessories pays homage to the sturdy and capable emergency response vehicles of the 1900s. It’s not entirely clear where the stretcher goes, but the modified V6 Bronco Wildtrak should make it to the rescue point with its onboard air compressor, light bar, mirror-mounted lights, winch, tube doors, and jack mount. The red crosses and “Rapid Medical Aid” decals on its sides also make it crystal clear to any onlooking wildlife that there may be a medical emergency somewhere in the forest or meadow.

Ford knows there are scores of people heading into the back country with an F-150 box full of toys every weekend, so it brought a F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid done up by BDS Suspension to support just that kind of activity. The Remote Off-Roading F-150 sits high on Fox dampers and 20-inch wheels, with a cold-air intake and Borla exhaust aiding the twin-turbo V6 engine. Should the back country turn on it, the truck also has 7.2kW Pro Power Onboard, recovery and first aid kits, an air compressor, and a console vault.
