A CHEESE farm has been voted the best campsite in the northeast – and you can spend the night there.
Even better, you can get handmade local cheese for breakfast.
Cheesedale, run by Allison and Jonathon, are also known as Teesdale Cheesemakers in Bishop Auckland.
You can spend the night in one of their two off-grid cabins, named Ash and Holly.
Each one sleeps two people and has a kitchen or an outdoor firepit and BBQ area on the decking.
If you need to warm up, there is a woodfired hot tub outside, while each lodge is fully insulated with a hot air heater.
You can order a breakfast which includes a local cheddar, as well as meat and cheese platters, a bottle of bubbly or a BBQ pack.
If you fancy going deeper into the cheese life, you can even book cheese tours and guided cheese tastings.
While kids are not allowed, you can take your dogs.
The lodges start from £90 a night, working out to £45 each, with a minimum stay of two nights.
Set across 20 acres is also the farm, as well as the cafe and shop called Cafe Cheesedale.
Their sausages and bacon are from their rare breed pigs raised at Pond Farm and fed with the whey from the cheese making.
You can even watch them make the cheese while there, all of which is vegetarian friendly and can even request a cheese celebration cake.
If you fancy a bargain staycation, here is the seaside resort which has been voted the cheapest in the UK.
And here is a great, and affordable, alternative to a stay in the Cotswolds.
