Charles Farriér of Crumble & Whisk first graced the East Bay with his creative mini cheesecakes back in 2016. Now, the pastry chef is taking those popular farmer’s market desserts to his very own bakery café.

Last week, Farriér opened Crumble & Whisk’s first brick and mortar at 4104 Macarthur Blvd., in the Laurel District of Oakland. Farrier, a native of Oakland who jumpstarted Crumble & Whisk via kitchen incubator La Cocina, is offering his a wide range of baked goods and pastries in addition to a breakfast and lunch menu. Soft opening hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. You can take a peek at Farrier’s offerings on the Crumble & Whisk website or its Instagram page.
In addition to signature mini and full-sized cheesecakes in flavors like Beet & Berry, Puckered Up! Lemon, Sweet Potato and Chocolate Marble, look for a rotating array of fresh-baked brownies, cookies, cinnamon rolls and scones. Farrier’s breakfast and lunch menus include toasts, sandwiches, salads, soups and, of course, savory hand pies and pot pies.
Crumble & Whisk will continue its robust weekly farmer’s market schedule in Livermore (Thursdays); Ferry Plaza San Francisco and Grand Lake Oakland (Saturdays); and Marin and Walnut Creek (Sundays). Details: www.crumbleandwhisk.com.
