Spurs host the Blues on Monday night in what will be a key Premier League game for both London clubs.

It is also of huge significance for Pochettino, who is returning to the team he managed for five years for the first time since his sacking in 2019.

The Argentine has a close bond to Spurs and its fans, and was twice closely linked with his old job, most recently earlier this year following Antonio Conte’s dismissal.

The Lilywhites ended up hiring Ange Postecoglou instead, while Pochettino moved to Stamford Bridge to take charge of Tottenham’s fierce rivals.

Given that, it would seem improbable for him to ever go back to North London, but the 51-year-old doesn’t rule it out, saying: ‘Why not?

‘Hopefully, I can stay here until I die, for 20-25 years but you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. I am 51 and thinking more about enjoying today, not looking too much into the future, but you never know.

‘It’s a club for sure if I’m not working maybe and if they want me one day, why not?’

There are actually plenty of managers who have coached both the Blues and Spurs, with Pochettino, Conte, Jose Mourinho, André Villas-Boas and Glen Hoddle the ones to have done it in the Premier League era.

While some Chelsea supporters may not like it, Pochettino has stressed that he doesn’t want to pretend he doesn’t like Tottenham for the sake of it, though is ofcourse determined to win the match, especially with the Blues languishing in 13th in the table.

‘We need to be natural, not fake. I don’t want to be a hypocrite and say something I don’t feel,’ he added.

‘I cannot just say I have forgotten all those things. That would look stupid. I am just going to be natural and enjoy a great game. I want to win. I want to beat them.

‘It is important because Chelsea need a win and we need the points not because it is against Tottenham. It is not a special thing. I don’t to go there and think it is about revenge.’
