Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is adamant Sadio Mane should have been sent off after just six seconds as the Blues drew 2-2 with Liverpool. The Senegal international, who is now off to the Africa Cup of Nations, caught his opposite number with an elbow as the pair battled for an aerial ball.
Azpilicueta’s eye was immediately marked up as he writhed around in agony on the floor.
But Anthony Taylor was only prepared to caution Mane, writing his name into the book.
Had he received his marching orders, Mane would have made history with the fastest Premier League red card of all-time.

“Always they will say what they think and I understand we’re promoting challenges but sometimes we’re seeing joke penalties given and sometimes we see very dangerous actions and they don’t take action.”
The blow was made worse when Mane opened the scoring after rounding Edouard Mendy and firing behind Azpilicueta, who tried to block the ball on the line.
Liverpool then doubled their lead when Mohamed Salah collected the ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold and beat Marcos Alonso before placing the ball past Mendy.
Chelsea fought back though and would not lie down.
Man of the match Mateo Kovacic struck a brilliant reply when he adjusted his body expertly before firing a volley in off the post.
Christian Pulisic then levelled for the Blues just before half-time to send Stamford Bridge into bedlam.
Manchester City are now in total control at the top of the Premier League.
They’re some 10 points clear of Chelsea while Liverpool are 11 adrift but do have a game in hand.
