Shaun Wright-Phillips has backed Manchester City to win the Premier League title this season ahead of current leaders Chelsea.
City currently find themselves in second place in the table on 26 points from their opening 12 games.
Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea side lead the way in the top flight table, having lost just one of their opening 12 matches and conceding a league-low of four goals so far this term.
The Blues go into Sunday’s match against struggling Manchester United having won nine of their last two games in all competitions, six of those without star striker Romelu Lukaku, who has spent some time on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
But despite their early season domination, former Premier League midfielder Wright-Phillips thinks that City’s experience of title run ins will help them prevail, while also naming Liverpool and West Ham United as the other top clubs who will finish in the top four this term.
‘For me, if City do get a striker they’d most probably run away with the league I think,’ he told Metro.co.uk.
‘But at the minute, I still think City are favourites because they are proven over a longer time period.
‘So I’m going to go City, Chelsea, Liverpool and do you know what I’m going to go for an outsider, I’m going to say West Ham might just sneak in.’
The Hammers have had an unbelievable start to the season and currently find themselves in fourth place in the league table after impressive wins over Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.
David Moyes’ side travel to the Etihad to take on City this weekend, in what looks set to be another stern test for the east London club.
Shaun Wright-Phillips was speaking to Metro in conjunction with William Hill.
