According to The Athletic, the Red Devils made a third bid worth £50million plus an additonal £5million in add-ons.

Man United will not be put off though, with the Red Devils still confident of a deal

However that proposal has been turned down for the Blues, who have made a counter-proposal of £58million plus £7million in add-ons.

A deal totaling £60million would likely be enough to get the deal done, with Man United still confident of a breakthrough.

TalkSPORT understands that the Red Devils were hopeful that their third offer would be accepted, making the setback a real blow.

As a result, Chelsea have offered to meet with United in order to find an amicable solution, with both parties hoping for a prompt deal to ensure that Mount does not miss the start of pre-season.

Mount has made it clear that he wants to complete a move to Man United this summer, with Erik ten Hag also keen to sign the England midfielder.

The 24-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge, meaning that United are reluctant to pay over the odds for a player who will be available for nothing next summer.

But with Mount making almost 200 appearances for the club, Chelsea are keen to get their full worth for the academy graduate.
