Chelsea star Carney Chukwuemeka reportedly rejected a deal worth £100,000 per week at Aston Villa to help force through his departure, despite making just two first-team starts for the club. The winger made the move to Stamford Bridge in a £20million deal this summer, making his debut in the 3-0 win over Wolves last weekend, and hopes are high that he can become one of the world’s best in his position.
Chukwuemeka became one of the most sought-after youngsters in world football this summer after he shone for England as they won the under-19s Euros, attracting interest from a range of clubs from across Europe including Barcelona and AC Milan. However, Chelsea won the race for his signature with the wideman joining the team he supported as a boy.
The 18-year-old had made just 16 appearances for Villa before his move, with only two of them coming as starts. Despite this, the midlanders were desperate to keep him at Villa Park for longer and offered him a new contract worth £100,000 a week, according to the Evening Standard. The deal would have made him one of the highest-paid teenagers in the world despite his relative inexperience.
However, the deal was rejected by the Englishman with Villa quickly realising it would end his spell in Birmingham. The move was kicked into motion after informal talks between Todd Boehly and Lions chief Christian Purslow at a dinner hosted by the American for all the Premier League owners.

He said: “It feels amazing. I’ve dreamed of playing for the club I supported growing up, so for it to happen is a dream come true.
“I thank God, all my team-mates, my family and the gaffer for trusting me. The Chelsea fans have been really supporting me since I joined and the reception from them [when I came on against Wolves] gave me a boost.
“Before coming on, he [Potter] told me to express myself, to play how I have been in training and to play with a smile. I think I did that so it was good.”
