Chelsea have been told to give Armando Broja a chance as their No.9.
The Blues need a striker following Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan on loan after his disappointing first season back at Stamford Bridge.
Kai Havertz will likely lead the line for Thomas Tuchel’s side this season, while Raheem Sterling and Timo Werner can also play through the middle.
While Chelsea are likely to be focused on adding defensive reinforcements ahead of the new campaign, with the club currently locked in a battle for Jules Kounde with Barcelona, they’re in need of attacking options, too.
But they could have a ready-made Lukaku replacement at the club in Albania international Broja.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a good loan spell at Southampton, scoring six Premier League goals last season.
He flew home early from Chelsea’s pre-season tour to secure a move to West Ham, but nothing has been agreed yet.
Chelsea would prefer it to be a loan move, but talkSPORT understands that the player would prefer a permanent transfer.
However, the club has been urged to keep him at Stamford Bridge and give him a chance.
Former Charlton, Tottenham and Aston Villa striker Darren Bent told talkSPORT: “Why have they not brought Broja back?
“He’s a perfect centre-forward. It looks like they are going to let him go. Give him a go.
“If they create chances for him, he will score goals. He showed that at Southampton.”
Ex-Charlton and Newcastle midfielder Darren Ambrose added: “I think he should be their No.9. At No.9, I’d play him ahead of Havertz.”
