A casual glance at the browser history of just about any auto journalist will show that many of us spend far too much time on configurator sites, either researching trim levels to flesh out a story; or simply seeing what colour palettes are available on this year’s Porsche 911 range. Sometimes, though, the activity pays off.

Someone with ties to enthusiast site CorvetteBlogger.com discovered the upcoming electrified 2024 Corvette E-Ray profiled in a dusty corner of GM’s visualizer, detailing the car’s powertrain and a host of other options. The General quickly took down the information, but not before an intrepid fan snagged a number of screenshots, which can be seen here and here.

According to the leak, this new E-Ray will employ an electric-assist motor (or motors) on the front axle, working in concert with the familiar 6.2L LT2 V8, to create the first production-grade all-wheel-drive mid-engine Corvette in Chevy’s history. Recognizing that build-‘n’-price tools don’t always present wholly accurate imagery – especially when said site is yet to be officially live – the screenshot of the E-Ray’s top-down plan view does indeed seem to show the 6.2L and not the ripsaw flat-plane LT6 like that in the mighty Z06 shown at the top of this post. However, with other electrified Corvettes on the horizon, including a rumoured variant with four-figure power, a version with the flat-plane and a couple of electric motors is certainly not out of the question.

Elsewhere on the oops-that-shouldn’t-be-live configurator, fans found packages which detailed the E-Ray-specific styling gear, which seems to include body-colour trim pieces and an ‘E-Ray’ badging flourish on the quarter panels. A slew of paint colours were listed, including new ones like Riptide Blue and Sea-Wolf Gray. There will surely be any number of visual options, from spoilers to decals, as there are in the standard Corvette.

Speaking of the interior, one eagle-eyed fan (though spox at GM were surely calling that person by an different unprintable name, once the leak was discovered) spotted a ‘Regen on Demand’ button in the E-Ray interior. That’s presumably there as a control to help harvest energy whilst braking and dumping those precious electrons back into the car’s hybrid battery. This may be one-pedal driving — or not, depending on how the system is configured.

Now the cat’s out of the bag, expect GM to officially debut the 2024 Corvette E-Ray within the next couple of months, perhaps even summer 2023.
