Heads up for those of you playing Car Bingo on the Don Valley Parkway — it may be difficult to parse some of these changes in fast-moving traffic. Look closely at the lower front valance and you’ll find the jowls for its fog lights have been re-sculpted, growing in total height and diving a bit closer to the pavement. The forward-facing LED signature has also been cleaned up, ditching the old pattern for a single, smooth illuminated arc.

It’s the same story out back, where the taillights earn a new LED design but retain their familiar overall shape. This is an effective way to change up a vehicle’s appearance midway through its design cycle, since it does not require any expensive tweaking of the car’s sheetmetal. Chevy sales reps will also surely point out new chrome addenda and a raft of new wheel designs.

Stepping inside, GM has seen fit to install a 10-inch infotainment screen in all Blazer trims, binning the old display in favour of this larger unit. Wireless charging for a smart device is now standard kit on RS and Premier, but optional on everything else.

Those two snazzy trims also earn adaptive cruise control and – you guessed it – that’s optional on other rungs of the Blazer ladder. A nifty Nightshift Blue pops up as an available interior colour on the RS. Around this neck of the woods, GM now throws in a remote starter as well.

Power details will be familiar to anyone who’s played with the Blazer configurator since its introduction for the 2019 model year. In Canada, the base LT comes with a 2.0L turbocharged four-banger making 228 horsepower, with a 308-horse 3.6L V6 on tap as an option. That six-cylinder engine is standard equipment on the other three Blazer trims in this country: True North, RS, and Premier. Trailering capacity tops out at 4,500 pounds when properly equipped.

Look for the 2023 Chevrolet Blazer to land on dealer lots in summer 2022.
