The fire was reportedly caused by the tornadoes that swept through Kentucky and five other states in the South and Midwest areas of the U.S. over the weekend, according to Road & Track.
Work is underway to repair the damage to the plant’s roof and employee entrance and to reopen the facility. First and second shifts were also cancelled to allow for the facility to be brought up to code. Until then, Chevrolet is just one of many parties that has deal with the tornadoes’ impact.
This isn’t the first time that Corvette production has stalled recently. COVID-19-related concerns and supply shortages have also plagued the automaker’s flagship sports car this year.

The storms in the U.S. Midwest have killed over 90 people and in some cases levelled entire towns, according to Road & Track.
GM has yet to confirm when production will resume, though it’s predicted things could be back on track by December 20. The automaker is expected to provide an update in the coming days.
