Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy climb to career-best second in BWF World Rankings

The dynamic men’s doubles duo have been on a roll in 2023 with three BWF World Tour titles, including Indonesia Open 2023 (Super 1000), Korea Open 2023 (Super 500) and Swiss Open 2023 (Super 300). They are also unbeaten currently for 10 matches on BWF World Tour.

Satwik and Chirag are fresh from their Korea Open triumph and they will be aiming to extend their winning streak in Japan Open, which started Tuesday. The Indian duo is seeded third in Japan Open.

The 2022 Commonwealth Games gold-winning Indian doubles pair of Satwik-Chirag on Sunday stunned world No. 1 pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhamad Rian Ardianto in a hard-fought final to extend their winning streak to 10 matches.

After winning the Korea Open, Chirag opened up on their performance in the final and said despite not starting well they came back strongly and he was happy with the way they won the second game and kept the momentum in their corner. He went on to add that he was extremely happy that we could win consecutive titles after the Indonesia Open.

Satwiksairaj also expressed his delight after the win and claimed that he wants to continue with the same momentum in Japan Open. The Tamil Nadu shuttler also thanked the Indian badminton fans for showering their constant love and support.

They have been in the form of their career, winning the Swiss Open, Asian Championships and Indonesia Open this year and will look to continue the good run as they take on Leo Rolly Carnando-Daniel Martin of Indonesia in their Super 750 badminton tournament opening game.

The BWF World Tour is divided into six levels, namely World Tour Finals, four Super 1000, six Super 750, seven Super 500, and 11 Super 300. One other category of the tournament, the BWF Tour Super 100 level, also offers ranking points.
