LLOYD Chitembwe has finally ended days of speculation surrounding his future after completing a sensational return to his boyhood club Caps United as the head coach.
The 50-year-old coach was Monday unveiled as the new head coach at the fading Harare giants, replacing Darlington Dodo who was sacked last week.
Chitembwe completes a return to his former club after initially dumping them for a lucrative deal to city rivals, Harare City, at the end of the 2019 season.
He returns to Makepekepe with his entire backroom staff, which includes Nelson Matongorere, Fungai Tostao Kwashi, Tonderai Marume, and fitness trainer Thulani Muzambwa.
Last Friday, Chitembwe poured water on reports of returning to Caps United but was spotted at Makepekepe’s opening league encounter against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga Stadium Saturday barely 24 hours later.
Chitembwe, who won three Premier Soccer League (PSL) titles as a player and once as a coach will be hoping to make an instant impact at his former club which has been a pale shadow of its former self.
Caps United last month failed to progress to the knockout stages of the Chibuku Super Cup and will be hoping for a quick turnaround of fortunes in the 2021/2022 PSL race.
