Chloë Grace Moretz is back on our screens with a new television show called The Peripheral – and we’re already obsessed.
The upcoming science fiction series is based on the 2014 book of the same name written by author William Gibson – and with Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy all serving as executive producers, we’re convinced this will be one show you wouldn’t want to miss! And, honestly, the newly-released trailer continues to make a case for this Prime Video show even stronger.
So, with the release date of 21 October inching closer, what else can we expect from The Peripheral, which is produced by Amazon Studios and Warner Bros Television in association with Kilter Films? Read ahead for a release date, plot, cast…
What is the plot of The Peripheral?
The Peripheral follows the story of Flynne Fisher (played by Chloë), who, in an attempt to escape the boredom of her dead-end tech career, uses a bizarre new headset where she thinks she’s playing a video game. Instead, she believes she’s witnessed a murder in the dystopian world of 22nd Century London.
Amazon Prime
The official synopsis for the show reads: “Flynne Fisher lives in the rural American South, working at the local 3D printing shop while earning much-needed extra money playing VR games for rich people. One night she dons a headset and finds herself in futuristic London – a sleek and mysterious world, alluringly different from her own hardscrabble existence. But this isn’t like any game she’s ever played before: Flynne begins to realise it isn’t virtual reality… it’s real. Someone in London, seventy years in the future, has found a way to open a door to Flynne’s world. And as utterly beguiling as London is… it’s also dangerous. As Flynne searches to discover who has connected their worlds, and for what purpose, her presence here sets dangerous forces into motion…forces intent on destroying Flynne and her family in her own world. The Peripheral is master storyteller William Gibson’s dazzling, hallucinatory glimpse into the fate of mankind — and what lies beyond.” Fascinating!
