It’s the eve of another Cannes Film Festival and that means internationally renowned film stars, models and film industry executives from around the world will be on the red carpet from May 17 – 28 wearing the latest high jewels created by the Swiss luxury brand.
This is the special year for the Cannes and Chopard. Together, they are marking the 25th year of their partnership while the film festival is celebrating its 75th year. As what is now a long-standing tradition, Caroline Scheufele, Chopard co-president and artistic director, will use the high-profile event to unveil her latest Red Carpet Collection.

In the same tradition, Chopard will produce one jewel for each year of the festival. This means Scheufele designed and Chopard artisans produced 75 one-of-a-kind high jewels inspired by the cinema from its early black and white charms to its dizzying contemporary colors. Like celebrated films, the jewels are intended to have a lasting impact.
The collection opens with a standout brooch in the shape of rose encrusted with pave diamonds on a black stem and leaves. The black and white jewel was inspired by Charlie Chaplin’s first sound film, City lights, which Scheufele described as a “pivotal moment in cinema.”

Roses are a constant motif in the collection and one of the standouts is a choker composed of pink sapphire beads and a floral motif that becomes a brooch. Then there’s a ring adorned with sculpted petals covered in pink sapphires. Inside is a 2-carat diamond serves as “the heart of the flower,” Scheufele says.

A candy-colored peace symbol is the centerpiece of a necklace. Another necklace has a centerpiece that recreates the sun in bright yellow and orange sapphires that can be removed and worn as a brooch.

Scheufele created a pumpkin ring set with spessartite garnets and tsavorites that opens to reveal a diamond slipper, recreating the story of Cinderella. The story of “101 Dalmatians” is given a jewelry interpretation in a bracelet featuring dogs sporting a coat of black and white diamonds. This piece required more than 470 hours of work by Chopard’s jewelers.
Alfred Hitchcock’s masterpiece, “To Catch a Thief,” is honored with a diamond necklace featuring a 13.69-carat internally flawless D-colored diamond, evoking the spirit of the French Riviera.
