Chris Eubank Jr has issued a scathing video verdict on Conor Benn’s fight to clear his name. The two second generation superstars were due to face off on October 8, in a bout that was already deemed controversial due to the agreed catchweight. But just days beforehand, plans were thrown into chaos when it emerged Benn had failed a drugs test in the build-up.
“You got caught, twice, with illegal substances in your system,” he said, in a video message. “People who are innocent don’t go into hiding for three months and then start talking about ‘thank you to my team, to everyone who stuck by me, and everything will come to light’. It’s boring, no one gives a s**t, sorry.”
And Eubank Jr urged Benn to show remorse: “An apology is all that you need to give,” he continued. “To the fans, the people that bought tickets, the people that travelled, that paid money and were let down. They deserve an apology. The only possible way that you can prove your innocence is if there is some video out there of you being pinned down my multiple males, getting jabbed in the a**e by a syringe.”
