Ja Morant’s off court actions have cost him the first 25 games of next season, something Chris Paul was asked about during a recent appearance on UNINTERRUPTED’s “The Shop.”
Sitting down with Paul Rivera, Mav Carter, coach Ty Lue, rapper Killer Mike and actor LaKeith Stanfield, the 12-time NBA All-Star and Players’ Union rep shared a story about Ja before adding that he was sympathetic to his situation.
“It’s so crazy, because I’m a big Ja fan,” Paul admitted. “Ja came to my basketball camp when he was in college. He came in the camp, nobody really knew who he was like that. And after camp, everybody knew who he was. That’s when he blew up, and all the NBA scouts.”
“What I’ll say about Ja, just me being in the league and my position as president of the union for so long, is that everything that you guys said is so real,” Paul continued. “But it happens so fast.”
Paul recalled how hard it was for him as a young player coming into the league and being in the spotlight, suggesting that it’s just a part of the growing pains of a maturing NBA star.
