Congratulations! Chrissy Teigen and John Legend welcomed their fifth child, a baby boy named Wren, via surrogate on June 19, Chrissy shared on Instagram on 28 June. The news of Wren’s arrival comes just six months after Chrissy gave birth to Esti, and three years after she suffered pregnancy loss with the couple’s third child, a boy named Jack.
The couple welcomed their two eldest children, Luna and Miles, in 2016 and 2018, respectively. Both were conceived by IVF.

Chrissy announced Wren’s arrival with a 10-slide Instagram carousel in which she explained her and John’s decision to use a surrogate after her pregnancy loss in 2020.
“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she wrote. “To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”
She and John reached out to a surrogacy agency in 2021, she explained, and initially inquired about using two “tandem surrogates” to carry babies simultaneously. “Twins, kinda?!” wrote Chrissy.
“At some point early in our surrogacy journey, I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs and said to John – I want to try to carry just one more time,” she continued. “If it doesn’t work, we will be okay.”
Around the time that Chrissy became pregnant with Esti, the couple’s surrogate Alexandra lost her first embryo. However, she tried again, and on the second attempt Alexandra successfully became pregnant with the couple’s fifth child, a baby boy, Chrissy said.
“We ate hot pot to celebrate, watched Vanderpump Rules with our growing bellies, our families blending into one for the past year,” she wrote. She referred to Alexandra as a friend, “the most beautiful woman,” and decided to name their baby after her. His full name is Wren Alexander Stephens.
“And to Jack, we both know their angel kisses are from you,” Chrissy Teigen concluded.
Welcome to the world, Wren Alexander!
