“What a journey Brentford have been on,” Cole added. “They have come from spending many, many years in the lower leagues and they have built themselves up and now they have a player of Christian Eriksen’s talent.
“Their fans will be in dreamland and I think Brentford are everybody’s second favourite team now with this signing.”
The Bees head to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, but while the clash with the Premier League champions may come too soon for Eriksen, he could feature against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Eriksen has recently stated that it is his desire to earn a recall to the Danish national team and he harbours hopes of representing his country later this year as the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
