Data from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) showed the average cost of a pint of draught lager had increased by 1.9 percent between January to March this year – that equates to an additional 8p per serve.
Bitter is also more expensive, having risen 0.8 percent or 3p per pint during the same period.
While these price rises might only be pennies, should pint prices have increased in line with energy costs, a pint of BrewDog’s Punk IPA would set a customer back £27.50 according to the CEO James Watt.
But, pint-lovers needn’t worry, because several cities are offering the cheapest pints.
The average for the whole of the UK – according to Finder, who performed the research – is £4.15.
