The classic AOR/melodic rock band Mecca have announced that their brand new studio album, ‘Everlasting’, will be released on 21st April via Frontiers. The first new album by the band for seven years sees vocalist and founder member Joe Vana returning to the style he is known for, while it also sees his son Joey on co-lead vocals. A first single and video from the record entitled ‘The Mistakes We Make’ is available now.
Joe Vana met Jim Peterik of Survivor when in his early teens, with the iconic songwriter eventually employing him as his in-house demo singer. The duo subsequently started a band called Project Voyager, which ultimately morphed into Mecca and the 2002 release of a self-titled debut album that featured guest slots from several scene luminaries.
This was followed by ‘Undeniable’ (2011), a breathtaking album that perfectly melded the hi-tech approach of Mr. Mister with the commercial nous of Toto, then ‘III” (2016), which introduced Joey Vana on guitar alongside an impressive list of contributors. All three albums were reissued on the ’20 Years’ collection released by Frontiers in early 2022.
