Cleaning experts share the ‘ultimate’ method for ‘sparkling clean’ oven racks

Oven racks are notoriously difficult to clean as the grease, grime and food debris on them have been baked on at a very high temperature.

Oven racks also have lots of small gaps which makes reaching certain stains difficult.

Using the wrong products on oven racks can also lead to tarnishing and other stains to develop.

With this in mind, Fabulosa, the fragrance-led home and lifestyle brand, has shared how to clean oven racks using dishwasher tablets in a video on TikTok.

The TikTok video caption reads: “The ultimate dishwasher tablet hack for getting your oven sparkling clean.”

To start with, homeowners need to get themselves a packet of dishwasher tablets.

Most homeowners will have dishwasher tablets if they own a dishwasher but those who don’t can pick them up online or from local supermarkets.

Tesco All-In-One Dishwasher Tablets cost £4 for 40 tablets, Essential 45 Dishwasher Tablets Original cost £3.15 from Waitrose which works out at 7p per tablet, Asda All-in-1 Original Dishwasher Tablets cost £4 and Fabulosa All in One Ultimate Dishwasher Tablets 54pk cost £4.99.

For this hack, homeowners will need two dishwasher tablets. These can either be the tablet variety or the pod variety.

Put the two dishwasher tablets in a large sink, container or bath filled with warm water.

Next, put the dirty oven racks into the solution with the tablets and leave them to soak for “30 minutes”.

After 30 minutes, homeowners should notice grime and food debris on the bottom of the sink or bath where the dishwasher tablet has worked its magic.

Afterwards, the oven racks should be “all clean”. If there’s still some grease or debris on the racks, this can be wiped off using a cloth or sponge.
