Cleaning influencer’s ‘game-changing’ laundry item that saves doing extra loads

The average household does laundry between one to three times a week, depending on how the washing machine is filled, the type of garments and how fresh people like their clothes.

While this doesn’t seem like a lot, this does equate to between 50 and 150 laundry loads each year. Households with large families and children might do one laundry load a day.

While doing laundry is a laborious task, there are certain items that can make the chore easier.

Lynsey Crombie, in partnership with Dr. Beckmann, has shared the one “game-changing” laundry item she uses to avoid doing “extra loads” of washing.

Lynsey is one of the UK’s most popular cleaning influencers, sharing tips and tricks with her audience of over 300,000 followers.

She also regularly features on ITV’s This Morning as their resident cleaning expert.

Lynsey exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Always follow the garment care label and wash at lower temperatures.

“If you are mixing colours use a colour catcher, like Dr. Beckmann’s, this has been an absolute game changer with my laundry routine and saved me doing extra loads.

“Use the right amount of detergent as too much is not good for your clothes and ditch the fabric conditioner when washing towels and microfibre cloths.”

There are lots of different colour-catching products on the market that can be purchased online or from supermarkets.

Dr. Beckmann Colour & Dirt Collector costs £1 from Amazon, Dylon Colour Catcher Laundry Sheets cost £4.50 from Tesco and Dr Magic Snatch A Dye 20S costs £1 from Savers.

Colour catchers are sheets of fabric that trap dyes from the water before they dye garments.

Colour catchers should keep clothes from going dull and should work at every temperature.

While colour catchers do work, homeowners should be careful when washing new items of clothing, ensuring they wash them with similar colours.
