FALLING asleep on a plane is probably one of the hardest things to do in life.
Economy class seats can be cramped and uncomfortable, while finding the right place to rest your head is often impossible.

As well as that, there’s often screaming children and flight attendants changing the on board lighting, all making it difficult to drift off.
However, there’s one affordable gadget that travel experts swear by to make it easier to get some rest during a flight.
The bluetooth sleep mask, available for as little as £16.98 on Amazon, not only helps to block out the sounds of the plane with in-built headphones, but it also keeps out the light and provides comfort too.
Unlike over-ear headphones or earbuds, the mask sits gently over the ears and remains comfortable for a long period of time.
Meanwhile, the 10 hour battery is enough to last the best part of most flights.
The headphones aren’t noise cancelling so they don’t completely cut out the sounds of the cabin.
However, they are loud and clear enough that the music or podcast you’re listening to will drown out most of what’s happening around you.
The soft fabric cover also means that wherever you try to rest your head, be it on your headrest, the window, or the back of the seat in front of you, it’s cushioned.
The thin bit of material doesn’t look like much of a substitute for a pillow, but it is surprisingly soft and does make a noticeable difference.
The mask isn’t only useful for flights either.
Getting to sleep in hotels can sometimes be difficult, especially in a country where it’s necessary to adapt to a different time zone.
However, the mask is just as comfortable and useable in bed as it is on a plane.
The masks aren’t the only things travel experts rely on to help them sleep on planes, with some flight attendants swearing by this affordable item for a good snooze.
Meanwhile, there are some surprising items that might make flying more comfortable for kids, but are not permitted on flights.
