When the Los Angeles Clippers traded a massive haul to land Paul George in 2019, they paired him with Kawhi Leonard to win a championship.
Three seasons later, that still has yet to happen.
One reason is the All-Stars’ inability to stay healthy during their time as Clippers. For example, George only played in 56 games last season, while Leonard only suited up for 52 games, including missing most of the playoffs.
That’s why the Clippers reportedly seem open to breaking up the All-Star duo, according to Marc Stein.
“The Clippers have reportedly left “various rival teams” with the impression that they’re at least attempting to gauge the trade value of Paul George. If the Clippers decide to shake things up, the Trail Blazers and Rockets have been identified as potential trade partners,” he reported.
George, 33, is entering the third year of the $176 million contract extension he signed with the Clippers in 2020.
