“The Professor” — as Rush drummer-lyricist Neil Peart was nicknamed — is being celebrated by Modern Drummer.

The magazine has announced the application rules for the annual Neil Peart Spirit of Drumming Scholarship, which was previously announced by his widow, Carrie Nuttall-Peart, at the 2020 Modern Drummer Festival.
Those who are legal U.S. citizens (sorry Canadians), between the ages of 14-21, not a professional musician, and not under any sponsorship or entertainment contract are eligible to apply by Nov. 26.
They must submit up to a two-minute video of their playing and a short essay describing why the scholarship will be significant to both their life and their drumming.
