Future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul will be searching for a new home this offseason. The Suns will reportedly waive him to avoid fully guaranteeing his salary for the 2023-24 season.
On Friday’s episode of “The Herd,” Colin Cowherd went on a rant about Paul’s potential fit with the Lakers.
Cowherd believes Paul to the Lakers would be a “mess” for a variety of reasons.
“He doesn’t fit here,” Cowherd said. “He’s old, expensive and brittle. That is the opposite of what the Lakers need.”
If the Lakers end up signing Paul this offseason, Cowherd would be convinced that LeBron James is calling the shots behind the scenes.
“Who’s running this place? If that comes to fruition, LeBron is running the Lakers.”

On the flip side, Cowherd thinks Paul would be the perfect addition to the Celtics. He would give the storied franchise a true floor general capable of taking pressure off Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum.
Paul averaged 13.9 points and 8.9 assists per game this season for the Suns. Although he’s no longer an elite player, there’s still gas left in the tank.
