Auburn’s demolition of LSU last week helps them crack the Top 10 of the college basketball rankings for the first time this season.
The SEC figures to be a beast this season but it is an open question as to who the conference’s top team will be. Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky have all made strong cases in the early going but the most accomplished team thus far may well be Auburn, which has surged to a 12-1 start this season.
The Tigers beat up on undefeated LSU to climb into the Top 10 of my college basketball rankings for the first time. How far will Auburn climb? Read on to find out, but first let’s take a look at this week’s honorable mentions.
Week 9 College Basketball Rankings: Honorable Mentions
Arizona, USC, Alabama, Kentucky, Providence
The two Pac-12 schools didn’t get to play last week, which is unfortunate for Arizona since both of their opponents had COVID issues. USC was one of them and figures to be in good shape to resume their season this week.
Alabama took care of business against Tennessee to maintain their position while Kentucky did good work to post a 2-0 week. The newest name on the board is Providence, which has Ed Cooley’s deepest roster in years and is a serious threat to win the Big East.
