A quick perusal of the Wheat Ridge Police Department’s social-media posts show it is not your average police department.

Sure, they let their community know the latest goings-on in their municipality west of Denver, but in an entertaining – albeit, informative – manner.

Take a recent incident involving a group of Romanian women accused of stealing a lot of makeup from an Ulta store.

Wheat Ridge police shared images of the accused, likening them to the Kardashians in a post that read like a long-distance “missed connection” – before they announced the women were wanted.

“Much like the Kardashians, it turns out our girls are international,” the post began, “and apparently they are comfortable with an open relationship because they’ve had ‘dates’ with several other police departments across the country, most recently in Chicago and now California.”

The post, however, clarified: “But they hail from Romania.”

A previous post on the “Wheat Ridge Kardashians” revealed the women took their time browsing, carefully picking out products and allegedly loading them into bags.

“Your grand total came to $1,443 — you girls have expensive taste! Which would have been absolutely fine, had you not forgotten to swing by the register on your way out.”

The three women did get props from the police department, who commended them for “being environmentally friendly” about the alleged theft before they left with their goodies.

Their photos were shared on their timeline “in hopes of connecting with them at the police department for a little photo shoot,” but California cops recognized them and connected with them first.

Two of them are in custody there for similar incidents, Wheat Ridge police said, adding that they will wait their turn: “Love is nothing if not patient.”

The post concluded: “The Wheat Ridge Police Department and Detective Smith in particular thank you for the worldwide effort to help us locate ‘the ones who got away,’” and signed off with “much love and adulation for the power of the internet.”

The department’s post got a lot of love from the internet and while officers were commended for catching the accused, they were equally impressed with the person behind the posts.

“Wheat Ridge Police Department, this is one for the books,” one commenter wrote. “Props to your social media manager!!! Absolutely hilarious!”

A second person suggested they should get a raise, while another asked, “Can I follow your police dept even if I live in the other side of the country? This has to be hands down the best police dept ever!! Much love to you all, stay safe and thank you for the laughs!!”

A quick scroll shows the same tone funny and efficient sprinkled throughout the department’s posts.

The department was recently hiring, but not for the social-media team.

“That’s just one lady and she’s clearly got it covered.”
