A San Francisco man was arrested this week for impersonating a Comcast employee while breaking into a home in San Rafael.
The suspect was identified as Tyler Christopher Ramirez, 30, the Marin Sheriff’s Office said. Ramirez is accused of allegedly stealing a Comcast vehicle and dressing in a Comcast uniform in order to break into a home in the Bret Harte area.
Police said they were notified of a suspicious person at the front door of a residence at about 1 p.m. on July 4. The resident said they were not expecting a visit from Comcast, but their ring camera picked up a person in uniform attempting to enter the house.
Deputies found the garage door propped open with a ladder when they arrived on scene. The suspect then fled from the garage into the Comcast vehicle. Deputies pursued the vehicle out of Marin County to an offramp in Richmond. The driver lodged the vehicle in thick brush and fled on foot.
Ramirez was taken into custody by deputies and California Highway Patrol officers, who were assisted by CHP Helicopter H30.
Ramirez was booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of stolen property, possession of a stolen vehicle and evading peace officers.
