Comedian Al Murray has urged Prince Harry and other famous faces satirised in the Spitting Image stage show not to be offended by the humour.
The co-writer of Idiots Assemble has appealed to targets – which include Rishi Sunak and Sir Jacob Rees Mogg – to remember it as satire.
The two-hour show portrays the Prime Minister as a schoolboy and the former business secretary as a praying mantis. Former US president Donald Trump and ex-PM Boris Johnson also take a hit.
During last month’s premiere, a puppet Duchess of Sussex revelled in her “West End debut” while husband Harry used every opportunity to flog his memoir Spare to the audience, which included Chancellor Jeremy Hunt.
Al, 55, explains: “Unlike the TV show, this has a story, a proper narrative, rather than sketches.”

When asked if anyone featured would be offended, he said: “I hope not, because there’s this whole self-sustaining whirlpool of offence.
“This is in an ancient tradition of flicking Vs at our leaders and the way we live our lives. If people can’t cope with that, we’re all done for.”
